There’s a good deal on a set of these Tuffy speaker boxes and I don’t really need them for storage, but if anyone has success using them as a subwoofer boxes, please chime in because that would be what I would want them for.

I was seriously considering the Select Increments Opti-Pods for awhile, but they seem like they'd take up too much space for little benefit. You can't get a subwoofer bigger than 5-1/4" in the Tuffy boxes, and 6-1/2" in the Opti-Pods. I wonder if you could fit 8" subs by cutting holes in the sides. That would take up all of your storage space, would require sealing the grille in the front, and would open up the possibility of rear-seat passengers damaging the cones. But... it's an idea.
I just went with a 10" slim sub under the seat. I needed to cut out two seat supports, but it works really well.

I would be using them with my existing focal 8 inch low profile subwoofers. I wouldn’t cut holes in the sides of the Tuffy boxes, but I wouldn’t be opposed to mounting them at a weird angle and may be doing either transmission line or just stuffing them with a lot of batting.

Although I do have a friend selling a 10” Utopia for $400. I’m tempted to get that and build my own box behind the seat but it just seems such a waste to use such a hi-end subwoofer in an application that I’ll only appreciate a small amount of that sound.
I don't think a decent sub would fit in there. I think those Tuffy boxes are for 5.25" or 6.5" full range. If you can get a sub in there and have it sound decent, let us know how you did it lol.
