Turbocharging

I just did studs and head gasket that werent too expensive. Mine was pricey because I had to replace cam lifters and rockers. The cams for these things are getting hard to find even blanks for a custom grind are getting really hard. Someone on here turned me on to Newcomer racing.
are you running a turbo?

im also more concerned about the motor then the other driveline components, other then the head studs and gasket What would be good to put in to limit the chances of blowing it up i am not looking to fully tear down the motor because i have a timeconstraint on getting it done but if there is stuff i can do in the top end i will not trying to touch the bottom end but want the motor to be pretty bullet proof at like 8-10 psi of boost

its got dana 35s and a 4" lift might take it off , It got 35s with steel wheels all new suspension components and steering i pretty much fully redoing it

Assuming you mean Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear? A Dana 35 front was Ford TTB.

Do you know what gears?

44 left vs 35 right

ok i think im going to do the studs and gasket, Has anyone had issues with transmision/driveline issues. Im 18 i don't want to say i drive it like i stole it but i do most of the time and want more power thats the main reason i want the turbo for more power. I just swaped a 350 small block in my friends Yj and want more power without spending 6 grand

What boost levels do you plan to run? You likely won’t be running more than 8psi unless you run both an intercooler and W/M injection.

So, if you aren’t going into higher boost then you don’t need to stud the head, which has its down side iirc from talking with Jezza years ago.

I’ve been running 6-8psi on the stock head bolts with no issues in AZ heat going on three years and my engine has a ton of miles on it.

If you don’t want to use the stock head bolts, get the ARP bolts that are stronger. No need for studs unless you try to run high boost that I wouldn’t recommend.

This platform constrains things to where the sweet spot is in the 6-8 psi range unless you want to make a bit more power for a bunch more work.

Why not buy a car designed to be fast instead

Because that makes too much sense and it's boring lol 😆
My buddies that have C6s,S14s,Benzes have a fckn blast in my Lj when they're in the passenger seat. Nothing but smiles and weird giggles when im driving around 🤣

When I ripped around a long sweeping turn in the TJ, my buddy full on lost his mind laughing and screaming “holy shit” like he had been drugged for 15 seconds. Granted the suspension was a big part of being able to do that, but my rig went from being gutless to a flat out blast.

The LJ’s LS2 is a completely different animal with grunt off the line and the power feeling more linear. Granted, it’s moving bigger tires so it’s not apples to apples.

Hahaa hell yeah dude !
Yeah that feeling is awesome lol, Just blasting through sweeps allegedly going double the limit and carrying speed 🤙🏼 The manual swap on my LJ definitely adds to the fun/excitement man ! Approaching a bend/sweep going 80 downshifting&slowing down to under 70 ish and feathering the gas and mashing it while coming out is tons of fun 😆
Cant wait to have some more power under the hood of my jeep......Just gotta figure out the axle situation....I keep breaking D44s on 33s,Chromoly shafts too now 🙃 After the axles better suspension is coming right along with it too :D

But overall I get you ! Its not apples to apples but I completely understand !

I thought your rear end ended up being good…or was that the gears but not axles?

Hopefully you’ll be good with the new housing.

Edit- Excuse the yapping
Edit#2- Very long story short,It was a lot worse than I thought,Kinda expected but still bad.
Uhm....Hehee 😆 ....no (Im giggling as i'm typing this lol) basically everything apart from the trutrac&bearings
At 1st I thought it was the the trutrac (i've blown one up,before, gears still spinning as such, just it making noise etc) Long story short, to sell that that Dana 44 I took it apart and found that I ended up breaking a chromoly shaft, several of the ring gear teeth were cracked along the whole way, some of them having multiple cracks on a single tooth. So I then replaced all the bad parts in it and sold It :D

After 4 Dana 44 rears within the span of months I wont be using them no more as they simply don't hold up to my shenanigans.

So after consideration im just gonna go with a full floater 35 Spline ford 9", I already have a Currie 3rd member and housing (which im not gonna use, since i'm now going with a fabricated 9" housing to match the width of the front HP44 I have from an old ford) and im doing coilovers in the back and a homemade "double triangulated" midarm setup that i've yet to build out and for the front im just gonna do a 3 link, Most likely doing savvy brackets though (I already have their truss just need the frame side stuff)

That’s a lot to digest lol

It is just the standard Banks turbo system with intercooler. According to Banks, it puts 96 more hp than the stock 4.0 at the wheels. This is no longer available from Banks.

FWIW, I saved these charts a ways back.

That does sound about right, Mike. On paper my supercharged / inter-cooled I6, pushing about 6 psi, made about 300 ponies and 400 torque - at the crank.

Stock head bolts, stock head gasket, stock crank, stock everything - with no issues at all.

"Made"?
I take it you moved on from that setup?
What can you tell us about it?
