They announced the main sponsors for UA2020 and one of the headliners is Skyjacker suspension. Maybe because UA isn't jeep centric, they need someone like Skyjacker to sponsor...but watching my insta feed...there are going to be a lot of misguided people out there. I follow Warn winch. They are bragging about how good Skyjacker is. I'm sure the 4Wheeler network sites will do a few big articles on how great Skyjacker is.


Skyjacker puts a bunch of money into UA, their payback is positive publicity from the other sponsors, which equal sales to people who don't know any better, which equals a bunch of discussions about WHY a bolt on long arm from skyjacker is shit.

I'm actually surprised Metalcloak hasn't jumped on this particular bandwagon. It seems right up their alley.

SkyJacker has been on UA for years. I remember them putting huge American flags on the back of their JK and dragging them across the ground every time the Jeep got slightly tilted

This forum isn't super indicative of how the average TJ owner buys products. It is the reason why SkyJacker and Rough Country continue to make their long arms, they sell. Most people who buy them probably think they are great since they haven't used anything better before.

I don’t care for Rough Country, but Skyjacker is another story altogether.

My general opinion is that if said lift company is making lifts for brodozer trucks, then they wouldn’t be anywhere on my list of good lifts for Jeeps.

Wait a year. There will be a massive influx of TJ owners on the forum with newly installed Skyjacker long arm lifts and then @jjvw is going to have to explain to them why it isn’t a good design.

I would say @mrblaine, but he’s so far removed from this bullshit that he could give two shits about some Skyjacker long arm and if some kid wants to run it based on clever marketing

Remember guys, Skyjacker doesn't just make off the shelf lifts for the Jeeps and they make lifts or custom parts for a lot of other platforms which are not terrible options. UA is sponsored by a lot of companies, some of which aren't great options for TJ/LJs

I can confirm that skyjacker shocks are garbage. That's what the PO put on mine and while they get the job done, it's definitely not a smooth ride.

Edit: They also make terrible YJ and JK shocks as I've driven both of those as well.

yeah, I get it. Skyjacker does leafs pretty well. Its just another lesson in how following the money can lend some insight into how different brands become popular.

Interesting tidbit. Metalcloak doesn't advertise in magazines. they are all virtual and they still have developed quite a following. If their production engineering were as good as their marketing...hooo, boy. that would make one hell of a good product!

Leafs are probably a good part of their business and those who don't care about the ride quality. Hell, if I were building a cheap Jeep like YJ or XJ that wasn't street driven, Id go a cheaper route on the lift, especially if I didn't need quality joints etc.
