Vapor lock

Last week it was 106 here. I drove a few miles to the bank with the ac on and my temp guage was prob close to 220. Normaly runs when its hot at 210. Went in the bank for a few minutes and came iut and started it and it didnt want to run for about 20 seconds then ran fine. I drove the 20 miles to work with the ac off and windows down and that brought the temp guage down to just past 210. I have an 03 Sahara.

Pretty sure it was vapor lock. Havent experienced that in 40 years lol My jeep does not have a heat shield on the fuel rail as the motor was replaced at some point and it did not get put back on.

I ordered some 1" wide wrap from Amazon and wrapped the rail 2 days ago. I have not had any issues since.

I bought the injector and fuel line insulation kit on ebay for $60 iirc !

Lots of cheap options. I trust DEI and went with their kit.

It includes new o rings. And if you don't have a fuel pressure test port now's the time to add one!

Personal preference.

What gas are you using? I’m at altitude, have a boat that would vapor lock, and my Jeep did a couple times. Someone recommend using 85 and haven’t had a problem with either since.

I was using 87 no ethanol because I only drove it about twice a month. Now that I am driving it to work I use 87 E10 because it doesn't sit a lot now.
