That was a 1965 SS 300 H.P. 327 automatic....I really regret selling it. I also really liked my 64 Chrysler 300K. It was a 413 Ramcharger engine with 425 H.P. and 4:10 gears. It was a real street sleeper.

I saw an original ls6/4 speed 70 chevelle in a customers garage. He said he bought it for 2500$ in the mid 70s. Now he gets offers for 100k$.

Was your '56 Ford a 272 or 292? I've owned multiple '56 Victorias in my time, as well as a Crestline 2-door hardtop. The '56 Ford is my favorite car of all time.

I truly hope that the 396 was swapped in , and it wasn't a Z-16 car.

The odds of it being a Z-16 are minimal, even in decades gone by.

On a similar note, I know, or knew, a guy who had a factory built convertible '69 Camaro SS pace car with a 396 and 4-speed. It also had power windows and a/c. The reason I know it had those is he told me about how he yanked all of that stuff out for weight savings. He was also sand-baggin' with a not stock 396 in a stock class. He won a regional rookie of the year 1969 or '70 in a super stock class with that car because the other guy who had been sand-baggin' the whole season let it all hang out on the last race, and he had been sand-baggin' a lot more and got D/Q'd.

So it is possible a really rare car was raced, but likelihood of having said car is minimal.

This thread reminded me of my great aunt's 70's Ford Maverick. At one point, I was trying to get her to buy a new car so I could have it lol. She wouldn't part with it and kept it until she died. She didn't like to drive much (with good reason) so would either walk or take the bus since that was possible where she lived (Santa Monica, CA). When she died in the early 90's, I helped with selling her car. At that point, it had under 35K miles on it and had been garaged, so was in great shape. After charging the battery, it started right up and drove fine.

This isn't hers, but similar model. Though hers was 100% stock. When the current Maverick came out (mini truck) made me remember her car and how Ford keeps recycling names. Like the Mustang Mach E which is an SUV and bears no resemblance to a Mustang.
