Vehicles you don't see on the road anymore

Beautiful weather today!

FIFY! :D

If you want efficient vehicles, you make them smaller and lighter, not larger and heavier. And yet...

Fed regs dictate fuel efficiency based on size, so carmakers make bigger cars (and trucks) so they have a less stringent mpg target.

Maybe, but that's not the whole story of why they got so big and fat. Look to safety standards and mandates for that. You can really see a noticeable size and weight change in the mid 2000s. Gov mandates became so much that NHRA rules say vehicles made 2008 and later no longer require a basic 4 point rollbar to run in the 11.99-10.00 second range. Vehicles made 2007 and earlier are required to have a 4 point to legally run in that time range. I think some vehicles made around 2015+ are even good to 9.00 without a rollbar all because gov regs have been pushed further.

Look at the size difference between these Civics, 2000 vs 2011. The newer one weighs about 500 lbs more, too.

But , at least it's uglier .

Any time the Gov gets involved, they're gonna feck shit up. My statement follows common sense, logic and physics....they do not, because they're beholden idiots. :geek:
