What are you guys using for theft deterrents?

Ah yes, conVEEEEEEEEENience rears its ugly head once again. But you're dead nuts right - Americans as a group are effete, spoiled wussies with far more money (or credit) than brains. Every time I go overseas, I come back with an increased level of disdain and disgust for my fellow citizens as-a-whole.

Unfortunately I do have to agree with you on this one lol

Your jeep ain't worth 10 bucks a month? I mean, I'm not worried about anyone stealing mine, because it has MATS (Millennial anti theft system, AKA 5 speed manual), but if I was, $10 a month would be worth it to me.
It's not a matter or worth. I refuse to get sucked into monthly subscriptions.
I have "MATS" as well.. but that only limits the playing field... Surely some car thieves can drive a manual. MATS something we joke around about. There are fewer and fewer manual drivers, but they are out there.
If they want the Jeep they are going to take. It's a full time soft top. Locking it would only risk my soft top or soft uppers. And, having been through vehicles being stolen before, if the TJ does get taken I probably won't want it back.

If someone really wants your rig, they can winch it onto the bed of a truck or trailer.
Jerry, er @MikeE024, is right. Anything expectations I have that I can prevent it is premeditated disappointment. I just try to slow them down or piss them off enough that they move on.

They did eventually recover the truck but it was destroyed.
Two vehicles stolen from in front of my house. I live in a really nice area. Both were found within a week, completely trashed. One was left running in the street for who-knows how long.

We need a way to lock our drivetrain in 4LO so that dragging it up onto a flatbed has to drag all four tires. Has to be convenient for us, and very difficult for a thief to get around. It might not stop them all, but it might stop some of them.

Another NO SUBSCRIPTIONS person here. Between streaming video, software, mapping apps, tracking packages, etc, you can pay a fortune to greedy companies. And don't get me started on "fees". My water/sewer bill (yesterday) and car registrations and phone/internet bills each have a price for service, followed by a dozen fees tripling the basic service price.

Reality is a bit different. Flatbed wreckers drag vehicles up on the tray with no tires after a wreck, locked up transmissions etc. The PTO winch really doesn't care and most tow monkeys care even less.

Even if they did care and even if it was a small problem, you can pop both driveshafts loose from the pinions with an impact driver, long extension and a 5/16" nut driver socket. I've done 100's that way and it literally would take a motivated thief 30-40 seconds per end to drop the driveshafts.

Yeah they don't need rolling tires whatsoever

It would be a simple matter to build a solenoid cross pin lock-out that prevents the shifter from coming out of park and the t-case from moving out of 4Lo. I've contemplated such mechanisms as theft deterrents and then remember that a flat bed just doesn't care.
