My back has been bothering me - hopefully tonite's dance class will wring it out, it usually does. However, I got the cleaned, inspected, and repainted motor end of the M8000 re-assembled, then pulled the drum. The OP had spooled on a "Used but good" wire rope. Not exactly. I took it off to inspect as well as to repaint the drum. About 18 or 20 feet down the line I found that it had been hockled at one point. Uh, no. So I do I re-terminate and have a 60 foot line, or do I just bite the bullet and get the synthetic I want anyway. Mulled that over for about 10, maybe 15 microseconds, then the wire rope went into the recycle bin after I took the brand new hook off the end of it!
I haven't pulled the brake out yet, but the spacing on the lugs inside looks good.
