It would be a shame if a country that was able to put folks in space were iced out of gear choices based on geography.

Gotta rely on Russia.

I wish I had waited just a little bit to regear. My original Dana gears were fine 20 some years after they were first manufactured. (stamped 01-97)

No mention of Nitro gears...they any good? Anyone running them?

They are pretty innovative and cover a lot of big axle stuff. But they are not transparent on where they manufacture their parts. I would venture to say thier stuff if imported.

Usually if a company build stuff in the USA they make a point of mentioning it.

But many people run their stuff without issue. Maybe they get their stuff from Korea which is known to have pretty good track records with quality.

I haven’t used Nitro gears but I have installed their pound-in axle sleeves. The install actually went more smoothly than I thought they would. They were a perfect fit. Any larger and I would have been screwed trying to get them in all the way. Any smaller and they would have been too loose. And they ended right at the inner seals.
So based on that I would consider buying other products. I would probably buy Spicer gears first, though

Didn't realize their manned program was still running. That makes them and Russia the only two countries we can buy gears from I guess . Only countries with active manned programs. Soon to add the US and India to that list.

In all seriousness, products made in China aren't inherently bad. Just made at that speed and volume you can have issues. When I was working with a manufacturer there we were getting about 20% of products in test shipments testing bad. Once we provided them with a proper testing procedure and a way to load test the product we stopped seeing failing products and any difference between them and our other manufacturer. So part of the problem lies with the company outsourcing and not providing a method to test. If they can't test they can't refine the procedure and take out issues.
