Gonna have my buddy tow the 06 Rubicon about 2 miles to the shop with a tow strap and me steering/braking as we go. Will not start. What is the best way to do this without damaging the transmission?
Xfer case in neutral?
Xmission in 3rd gear?

Not really necessary to disconnect the driveshafts, unless there is an issue with the driveshafts or transfer case. People commonly flat tow these across the country behind an RV.

You can get a cheap set of brake/turn signal lights that stick onto the car. Legally in many states you'll need lights.

Make sure whatever brackets you use are secure, and use safety chains that attach directly to the vehicle. You don't want to be liable if the Jeep breaks free and hits something.

If you plan to tow a lot in the future, consider getting a braking system for the jeep and hardwiring the Jeep's turn signals and brakes.

Also, don't be this guy:
