What is this and do I absolutely need it?

I found this dangling between the back of the engine and the firewall. Unfortunately the back other side of it melted due to being up against the engine.

What is it and what does it go to. Looks like some sort of ductwork.

I found this dangling between the back of the engine and the firewall. Unfortunately the back other side of it melted due to being up against the engine.

What is it and what does it go to. Looks like some sort of ductwork.

It's the cowl drain, it diverts water down past the engine.


This is where and how it mounts... There is only the one stud/nut that holds the bottom to the firewall.
