What is this hose?

And where does it go?

I was working on my new-to-me 2005 Rubicon this morning and I noticed this hose. One end is connected to the back/ top driver side of the front differential. The other end has a plastic fitting that indicates it should connect with something, possibly another hose. I have looked and looked and I can’t find anywhere that looks even remotely appropriate. The Jeep started and ran fine as-is.

Can anyone please tell me where this hose should be connected?

It's the breather for the diff, it attaches at the driver side of the radiator. The top bolt should have a clip for it near the radiator cap. It doesn't plug into anything, just held in place up there. The plastic part should have a little dust cover or cap.

It’s the vent hose for the front differentia… it’s usually attached to the body or frame up high..

The “dust cap” is missing the m going to have to replace it. I could really use some more guidance on exactly where it goes. There is a clamp on the hose that should be bolted to something but again I’ve no idea what.

It's usually zip tied or bolt clap at the near top of the radiator driver side of the Jeep. The higher the vent hose is better because it would be the height of a water crossing of your jeep. A bolt on radiator might be missing or the last owner forget to attach it to the bolt while doing work on the Jeep last.

I must once again thank the members of this wonderful community!

I went to the parts house and got a new vent, removed the old and installed the new and affixed the clamp so that it’s basically like the one in the excellent photo above. The only difference is that the dust cap is green.
