I will say I am SORRY for the post right off, as I know this subject has most likely been discussed.
I own a 2006 TJ sport, all stock, no lift. I have 30 X 9.5 R15.

Up coming road trip to the north west,

What tire pressure would give me the most comfortable ride?

In the future I would like to get new tires what is the largest tire i could put on the jeep with out any modification or issues?

Thanks

Try 28psi and 31x10.5 R15 tires will work great. You might get a little rub at full steering lock on the control arms but just let off a bit, it wont hurt anything.

I don't know how many miles you plan on driving or whether or not you care about mpg, but just keep in mind lower tire pressure equals less roll, which equates to slightly lower gas mileage. I run my 33s at about 28mpg, but definitely notice a difference in roll if I runem at 35.

For reference sake, OEM 30 X 9.5 R15 recommended pressure is 29 PSI.

As a rule of thumb, here is a matrix as a starting point for good wear and decent ride (depends on load - heavier rigs will require higher pressure):

* Size = Cold Pressure
30x9.5xR15 = 28-29 PSI
31x10.5xR15 = 27-28 PSI
32x11.5xR15= 26-27 PSI
33x12.5xR15 = 25-26 PSI

* Also make sure you get a C load range for the most compliant ride.

Search “Chalk test” best way to figure out tire pressure I’ve ever found especially once you start getting bigger tires. I’ve used this method for over fifteen years now and swear by it. Always have had smooth wearing and long lasting tires
