Ok so I have read a little about offset ...I'm guessing it's the same as back spacing correct me if im wrong. So my question is ...what's the offset of my stock 04 moab wheels ... this will help determine what offset I want with new wheels

Two different measurements.
Offset is measuring from the center of the wheel to the surface that touches the brake hub/rotor when that wheel is bolted on. It could be positive or negative.
Back space is measuring from the back edge of the wheel to the same surface that touches the brake hub/rotor when that wheel is bolted on.
From what I've heard, back spacing is pretty much what you want to be dealing with when looking for wheels for the TJ. What your stock Moab wheels had I do not know.

Ok thanks ...so if I were to get 4 inch back spacing it would push wheel/tires out 1 inch for a wider stance
4" of backspacing is pretty ideal for wider tires like 33x12.50 or 35x12.50 though it's not always easily found. How much backspacing you need depends mostly on the tire size you'll be installing. The wider the tire, the less backspacing you can have.
Can't get a lift right now so looking at 31/10.5/16 ... maybe 12.50... we clock about 30 - 35000 miles a year so tires dont last long
