Wheel & Tire Upgrade

I bought my grandson a virgin 99 TJ with the 2.5/auto/3.73. It is solid as a rock and only has 90k miles. Has the factory steel wheels and 30's on it looking at upgrading wheels to Ravine's and possibly going to 31's looking for feedback as far as effect lower wheel weight, larger tire, we live pretty much all flat roads but not sure if he takes to NC mountains how well it will do. He is not an off roader, just please and enjoys to top off jeep.

I’ve heard the 2.5 autos can struggle a little on the mountains from a friend who had one a few years back. But if you have an issue then just regear it. That should get it back to almost stock performance.

With the 2.5 he May notice a difference, but 31s shouldn’t be too bad. Alloy wheels are definitely your friend. The less rolling mass the better.
