Where does this part go?

This is the main reason I like to perform maintenance on my vehicles (outside of specialised work/machinery requirements) myself. Maybe my expectations are unattainable or I'm too fastidious but I think the job should be done correctly. Rant over.

I had my Jeep taken back to the dealer I purchased from to get a oil leak fixed for free, his mechanic replaced the rocker cover gasket. I found this piece wedged in the front bumper and even after changing the spark plugs today can't figure out where it goes.

It looks to be a bracket for the coolant/heater core hoses but help as to where it sits would help.

I just went out to the garage and checked my '98 (4.0 engine) to take a pic for you, but it turns out that I don't have anything that looks like that. Mine are just plastic pieces that clip onto a stud (slide down over a valve cover bolt with an extended stud, if I saw it correctly). I also checked to see if it was something used for the A/C hoses, but saw nothing. Sorry, Chief.

Thanks anyway, I think I already have the piece you are talking about. It's got me stumped.

Yep. Mine's a little more forward than that, but it's the same clip, pretty much. I just can't think of what else it would be for if not the heater hoses. It's an awfully stout bracket, that's for certain.

What are the chances it's not even from your TJ, but from another customer's car? I'll bet if you took it back to the dealer, you'll find a mechanic who has been looking all over for that thing! ;)

Haha yeah you could be right. I did notice the hoses have been pinched as if it should be a little more forward than mine is at the moment.

That part probably won't be on the LHD Jeeps. On the RHD Jeeps it goes on the back left (looking from the front) of the rocker cover, it holds the heater hoses as they go around the back over to the heater. Bloody hard to get a photo of.

Ahh thanks bro that's excellent. Definitely looks like the part. I should be able to find my way for there. Appreciate it

Well, this ol' Yank just got an education. Thanks for helping out @BeavisTJ, and showing me something new. I actually seem to recall now that because the RHD has the steering column where the LHD heater cores are, the hoses had to take a different route to get to the connections on the engine. Makes total sense, now that you've pointed it out!
