Where does this vacuum line go?

I’ve been having issues with my heat and ac being slow to change between settings. I took the battery out and found the battery was sitting on top of this line. It had an old piece of electrical tape over the end but it wasn’t connected to anything. Where does it hookup to?

You just need to go to any auto part store and find something like this:

I will caution that the Dorman soft vac fittings don't hold up well to our TJ's extreme underhood temperature, although I would *THINK* that for the location in question, they'd be fine.

Yes, and the nice thing is the rubber is very flexible.

Question is why someone would try and cap off the vacuum reservoir.

I'd be hooking it up to my MityVac and seeing if it holds pressure.

Have no idea what that is but it’s weird that I have cruise control working but this isn’t connected or doesn’t have a thing to do with it?

I had hvac work done last summer. They replaced my evaporator core so I assume they had to take out the battery. I’m wondering if they did this when replacing everything especially since that line was under my battery?

Though the electrical tape over the end in that first picture seemed pretty old not fresh like something that was done 8 months ago.

My previous question stands...under the battery is a vacuum reservoir... before you restore vacuum to the reservoir I'd verify it holds a little vacuum...a MityVac is a vacuum pump with a gauge... essentially you're doing a leak down test. I'm guessing there's a documented procedure in the FSM for your year available to download in the resources section.
