Newb to jeep but long time human. Been around the shop floor long enough to appreciate a good verbal jousting and humble enough to say "I need help". Which leads me to asking for some pics of a sleep platform/storage ideas for a lj. Yes, I did a search - yes I "googled" it. I've seen a few on E P forum that are sensible but I want to see something from a member here! - former or current. I get the impression we have good folks here that do a considerable amount on DIY (as the TJ/LJ aftermarket support is shrinking I'm hoping we can support each other with ideas). hopefully I can filter through the tom foolery and gain some crafty ideas. - let the games begin - all welcome! rj

I guess it depends on which sleep platform guy. I found a few on the net. Gray Mouser on EP (iirc) had a good write up. I think I saw a decent writeup on here as well. It's all part of my grand plan, but I am dealing with fundamentals of my LJ first.

Here is a few I had bookmarked

https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/tales-of-the-grey-mouser.55999/ pics of deck at bottom of page 1, cut diagram on page 4
https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/lj-sleeping-setups-not-rtts.98896/ mostly links to Gray Mouser, but a few more ideas.

rats, first and last ones have already been posted - oh well. Guess other people have found the same threads too.

Thanks for the QuickDraw McGraw replies! Seems the grey mouser still holds the “genius” benchmark - and that thread is 10 years old! Todays standard would require copious amounts of aluminum extrusion and composite materials to get the same results. Of course my version would be whatever materials I get ahold of on CL and Home Depot.
The under platform fridge is a must for my build - that is 1 modern convenience I really like. The world may be loosing it but keeping ice on multi-day trail runs won’t be missed here. If anyone here has 1 of these drawer / trucker fridges let me know your thoughts. - of course I’m confident someone here has 1 up’d the platform /drawer design in the last decade. Keep it coming! Rj

My problem with sleeping in my TJ wasn't length, but the space between the console and wheel well were too small and constricting for me when sleeping. Looks like in the LJ they're farther apart and won't be as much of an issue, lucky LJ guys get all the nice things

Did your Google search include the "site:wranglertjforum.com"? If not try something like this "sleeping platform site:wranglertjforum.com"

That extra 2" between the rows of seats really does make a big difference there.

Front seats can slide forward and be tilted forward. So total length is different when driving, or when using it to sleep. Likewise, I think the passenger seat can go a little further forward than the driver side. Looking at the cut diagram - I am seeing 48" + 21.5" = 69.5" on the passenger side.
