Why do a lot of vendors peddle such crap?

A lot of people might want better quality but their budgets dictate otherwise. I was there at one time and did the best I could with what I had or could afford. I’m not saying I have it made now, but I’m better off than I was in a past life.

They are, indirectly, whether that is their intent or not.
No, that's what you're insinuating. It's unlikely many of those customers even understood the origin of the product nor gives a shit.

Edit: my comment is that Chinese crap obviously isn't crap if people continue to purchase it.

No, that's is what is happening because those consumers want the cheapest and that means Chinese crap.

People buy it therefore it isn't crap?

Well does someone REALLY NEED magnetic body armor? I get lockers, rock rails, lift, shocks, but a sticker for a hood blackout or halo headlights? I guess I am more functional than needing something to look at.

Probably not. I could see it useful the way Blaine mentioned though.

I didn't mean everything though. I guess I was mainly thinking of items where you have a choice of different versions of the same thing.

Think profit margin.
If the quality race part costs $150 and you can sell it for $200 but
The made in Asia part costs $50 and you can retail it for $125......

The average store is going to stock the item with the cheap buy in and higher profit.
You would die if you knew what the margins are for the big chain stores.

We talk about Chi-com stuff as all cheap crap. I don't buy into that all the way. I have a Pardner Pump, Chi-com know off of a Remington 870. It was a third the price of what my friend paid for his 870. I had to fix his brand new 870 to operate properly. It still does not work as smooth as my Pardner. The same goes for many of the parts we use to beat up on our jeeps.
We blame it on cheap labor but even if the labor was free, could we in the US build something, pack it, ship it across the Pacific, break out the packging, ship it all over the country and get it to consumers for less than making it here? Unions, insurance companies, burocratic red tape, sloth, entitlement and taxes are killing our ability to build here, not labor.

Brain chemistry.People mail order stuff they don't need but is cheap and when it arrives it's like a mini Christmas. Dopamine release and hey I'm momentarily happy. I get the same buzz from cleaning my closet and finding an old hunting knife i'd forgotten. Pays to get old.
