Will a rear Dana 44 work as a Dana 30 front replacement?

I got hit my some lady a few weeks ago and my front axle is done. I was thinking of upgrading it to a Dana 44 rear because I heard the factory 44 front is pretty much a 30 unless you change certain components, or maybe an upgraded crate axle from dynatrac. Will a Dana 44 rear work as a replacement? Or what else would anyone recommend? I currently have a Dana 44 in the rear end.

What people are referring to is the Dana 44 in a Rubicon is pretty much a Dana 30 other than the center section or differential.
You need to either find a Rubicon Dana 44 or another Dana 30 to replace your front axle with. Or order a custom built axle form one of the after market manufacturers.

You can take a rear axle and retube it and then add inner "C"s and knuckles to it but that is a lot of work.

They all sell custom front axles.

If that isn't in the price range you want to be at then look on Car-Part.com which is a listing of junk yards where you can find used parts.
