Looking to install 235-75-15 Goodyear wrangler tires on Ravine 8 inch rims, are these rims too big? also I could install my 31-10.50-15's on these wheels but I don't really want to. if I did would they rub?

The rims aren't too wide for the smaller tires and 31s will also fit but might rub slightly at full steering lock. If they do you just let off a tiny bit, it's not going to damage anything. I ran 31s on mine with those wheels for years on and off road with no issues at all.

Are you looking at the Wrangler Trailrunners or Wrangler Radials? Wrangler is a line of tires with probably a dozen or more models. Please post up some pics if you get the Trailrunners I would like to see what they look like in that size on a TJ.

Jeep will most likely never leave the town of 175 with over 6000 miles of forest service roads, so not much pavement use. If you were to choose between Goodyear wrangler radial or cooper discoverer? plus I need a soft ride.
Both are okay. Your tire pressure is important, keep good track of that and you'll be fine.
I ran those Wrangler radials on my XJ before upgrading to a larger tire. They were surprisingly good in over a foot of snow.

Yes the $70-something Wrangler Radials. They are 235-75-15. GY used to make them in a few different sizes back in the 90’s but I think that is the only size they make them now. It is my understanding that the Wrangler Trailrunner is the new replacement and the “Radials” have been discontinued everywhere except Walmart.
I like them just fine except they have a funny shape to me. The tread width is really narrow and it has a balloonish sidewall. I like the outline letters but the font is really old fashioned and I wish it was centered in the sidewall compared to being so close to the rim. Otherwise no complaints.
Have you looked at the Dextero DAT1? Same price or slightly cheaper and I think they look nicer but it is off brand and not Tier 1 Goodyear. Still made in usa though.
