I don't want to get into an argument ether but thought I'd mention those 175 amp anderson plugs are actually rated for over 3x the posted rating for bursts, my local anderson plug wholesaler take was it's up for the task unless you're pulling a landcruiser up a vertical cliff and In twenty years of off roading I've never had to pull anything more than a few meters, my plug is rated at 300 amps (x3 for burst) for my application it's fit for purpose.

I am 99% sure most everything that has any type of rating ( @ least in the US ) have built in protection ( I like to call them fudge factors ). IE: a one ton lever hoist or a 3 ton chain fall can safely pull or lift considerably more, I am not sure what that rating would be on these mechanical devices, but its considerably more. Its the same with electrical components, there are codes and standards companies have to meet-- its the law.

Now I personally wouldnt "bank" on those-- but its good to know they are there in case of emergency

When the cost of a plug with a certified rate of 600 amps is only $20-$30, it’s a no brainer for me. I wouldn’t bank on the safety factor of a plug either.
