Windshield Wiper Troubleshooting

Windshield wipers on my 06 LJ Rubicon do not work at any speed. So far I have done the following to troubleshoot:

1. Bench tested wiper motor. The wiper motor works properly at low and high speeds

2. Used multimeter to test power at the wiper motor harness. Multimeter shows a little over 12 volts at the constant power pin but no volts when testing the low and high speed pins.

3. Verified relay in the PDC functions.

What else should I test? Figured the issue must be with the wiper switch at the steering column but maybe there is another possibility. Appreciate any help.

I would suggest you disassemble the steering columm, disconnect the wiring harness, remove the MFS for wiper operations, spray some DeoxIT D5 electrical contact cleaner (available on Amazon), cycle the wiper operating arm multiple times and allow the contact cleaner to evaporate (1-2 minutes) before reassembling. Test the MFS for proper operation.
I had a similar problem with the headlight MFS function and used DeoxITD5 to clean the internal contacts and the problem was gone.
This is worth a try before replacing the MFS.

If it were me, I’d test for power in and out of the multifunction switch on the wiper circuit. It’s a few minute check and will 100% verify whether the switch is the issue.

I pulled apart the steering column to check the multifunction switch. The harness was unplugged, which caused the issue. No clue how that happened but wipers now work perfectly.

Did the plastic clips break on the connector?

Yes the clips on the connector were broken. It's possible the PO broke the clips and slowly over time the connector came undone

Not to hijack , but is the intermittent delay control completely
inside the switch or is there another part somewhere?

The intermittent control is all in the switch. I had none intermittent wipers when I bought my TJ and fitting the intermittent wiper switch is one of my best mods.

I have an 03 and will be gutting it next winter and the electrical is an absolute necessity for an LS & NV4500 swap. Not sure about the rear axle but its getting a Dana 44 minimum in front.
