So, I drive an old 1997 jeep wrangler with a little over 150k miles. My gas gauge has stopped working. It will bounce between empty and full with no in-between. Occasionally the fuel light will come on but it happens usually right after I fill up and its only happened a handful of times. I recently had my fuel pump replaced along with a few other non-fuel related items. I was told by the dealership that the part I needed was no longer manufactured. I've just been filling up every 100 miles or so but does anyone know how to get a working gas gauge and about how much it should cost or how hard it would be to do myself.

IF you can't find the Mopar OEM fuel pump with fuel level sensor; stay away from the aftermarket fuel pump assemblies such as Airtex and Carter....
The only aftermarket fuel pump that seems to have a decent reputation is Delphi.
Rock Auto sells good replacement parts at a decent price.
Since the fuel pump was already replaced at the dealer; they probably just replaced the fuel pump and not the level sensor.
To replace the fuel pump assembly you will need to lower the fuel tank and remove the pump from the tank top.
