Yet another tire size question

Any down side of going to 32x12.5?
Currently have 31x10.5 with a 2 inch lift, 15x8 rims with 4 inch backspace. 6 speed Manual with 3.73 gears. 99% road use, only off roading I do is on the beach, but I have to drive 100 miles on the highway to get there. Daily driver, needs to be good in snow and rain.

With the 6 speed you should be fine. Ideally you'd have 4.30 gears for that size, but the 6 speed is probably the most forgiving transmission for small changes in tire size. Personally I wouldn't bother regearing until 33s with the 6 speed and 3.73s.

You'll need to extend your bumpstop an inch or so. Ideally, you'd pull the springs and cycle the axles to figure out what extension you need.

Those rims should be fine for backspacing. If you have stock flares, you may run into a contact issue when cycling the axle, but that can be mitigated with wider flares or trimming.

I have 265/75R16's on mine. They are metric 32's.
06 Rub with a 6 speed and 2" lift. Have 4 or 4.5" backspacing on my rims and have zero rubbing issues. The 6 speed doesn't even notice it. I'm turning 2,250 rpm at 60 mph so it's still in the 4.0 sweet spot for highway driving. Anything slower and I just use it like a 5 speed and still easily stay under 3,000 rpm. With the low first gear I can leave my foot off the gas in first gear on smooth flat ground and the Jeep just creeps along.

Heck I’m running 315/75R16 (metric 35x12.5) on stock 4.10 gears and the 6 speed and it’s not all that bad.

I probably will regear to 4.88 eventually though. I prefer to start from 2nd on flat ground; 1st is still a little too low to pick up decent speed.

Absolutely no issues at all. I run that exact size and like it a lot as the wheel is not only taller but fits inside the well/fender without sticking out. As for "beach, snow, rain" the tread will effect that more than anything. I would (and do) highly recommend Falken's Wildpeak A/T in a 32x11.5x15. They have a 50K mileage guarantee and can be gotten on sale (at least here) for ~ 140.00/ tire.

Hi, I am also using 265/75/16 on my 2006, with 6 speed gearbox and 3.73, 2 "lift and Moab rims. No rubbing problem. I am at 100kmh at just under 2000rpm the Tj remains usable but a a little long report, in 2nd gear with rev limiter I am at about 100kmh I would like to gain at least a speed ratio with respect to the current configuration, in everyday city use I never use the 4th and I am forced to always return to the 1st to start again or I started again, and on the highway I was always between 5th and 6th, in the city, with 4 people on board, I noticed a bit of difficulty starting uphill, I had a more acceptable configuration with 245/75/16 but anyway I would have welcome something slightly shorter, I think that with 4.10 it could be better, but I'm trying to figure out if I can find the 4.27, as I would feel too short with the 4.56 and lose the comfort of traveling on the highway due to the engine noise .

I'm running 32x11.5 (4" BS) with the 6 speed/4.0L/3.73 on a 2" lift. No issues at all in all type of driving, totally livable and enjoyable. I love the look as well. After going from 30's to 32's, I would say that 32's are the limit for me with the 3.73 and 6 speed. I'm sure it would start to get annoying with 33's.

I have 32 x 11.5 on a 2" bb lift with 15 x 8 rims with 5.25 Backspace, I added 1.25" spacers to get to 4". Also have the 4.0 with 3.73 gears but have auto tranny and Sahara flares. I use it as a daily driver with light off-roading. It rides just fine.
