What do you guys think about the Rancho steering stabilizer?

For what it's worth, I got mine when I got the new shocks. My TJ has 204,000 miles on it, so to replace it at the same time seemed like a no brainer. I mean no disrespect to the folks who feel it isn't necessary, but unless the steering stabilizer is flat incapable of wearing out (which is not the case), then why not replace it along with the other components? I think it's like $50. I'd do it. Just my opinion...

My TJ had 172K miles on it when I bought it, and mine was flat wore out. The steering was loose. How to describe that is, when I hit bumps my wheel would swing back and forth. Not like a death wobble more like a jarring spin of the wheel one way or the other. To save my thumbs I bought a way too expensive OME one, but it did tighten up and smooth out the steering wheel. My thumbs are much happier now.

I run this, mostly because it’s black, inexpensive and does the exact same thing as any high end aftermarket stabilizer. I’ve never in my 30 years of wheeling not made it off a trail because a steering stabilizer failed. :drive:

I don't penny-pinch in terms of preventive maintenance to my rigs. Even if they are still good if I feel that it needs replacement, I will replace them. Wear and tear of my TJ parts are pretty much like my body joints as I grow older. I can relate to it.

Thanks for all of the input, I already have a after market Rancho steering stabilizer on her. (photo of what I think a streering stabilizer is) Should I pay an extra $47 and install an new Rancho 5000x steering stabilizer too? I'm sure it will not cost too much more to the cost for having my shocks installed. Do you think I have a Rubicon Express Lift, and if so-is this a good lift?

Best I can tell from RE's website is they don't offer a 2.5" lift, so I'm guessing your lift is pieced together. Your front track bar looks like a RE piece.
