What did you do to your TJ today?

Took it for a morning ride and saw a TJ for sale at a big dealership. 2001 white Sahara with 157,000 miles on it, completely rust free and ZERO oil leaks. Wife asked how much I thought they wanted. I told her probably $13,000. It was marked down from $14,995 to $12,499. Some crazy person will buy it. I wouldn't pay over $8,000. That's why I only buy from private individuals.

something I swore I'd never do, bought a set of half-door uppers , wasn't really in the market for them but at fiddy bucks for a pretty much pristine pair, frames & skins, I couldn't resist. Not really sure what imma do with them, just put the full doors on last week for the winter & come spring everything comes off, but I figure at some point I'll be selling either the rig or the doors so it's a complete set now.

Or that's what I told myself as I put the half doors back on for the 30 mile all highway drive to pick these up to make sure they fit, froze my ballsack off on the way there; could've roasted a turkey in there on the ride back though...

man I really have to clean my soft top

Swapped one of the front tires with the spare in an attempt to figure out which tire is outta balance. I'll drive it to class tonite and see if its better or not...
I recently stumbled onto these things from centramatic that are supposed to be good. I haven’t ordered any yet but I’m intrigued.

This is my pic from me checking the coolant fluid for presence of exhaust fumes. The reason why for old engine it makes sense to perform such a check periodically, is that in case the gasket is not separating exhaust from coolant correctly, it will create excessive pressure in cooling system and will cause a whole bunch of damage (think about causing a leak in the heater coil under dash, that will be pain in the ass to replace).

I picked up a Stone White, bone stock, 04 Rubicon yesterday and spent some time switching the BFGs on Moabs from the yellow to the white, putting the stock Canyon wheels back on the yellow, and changing the oil in both to prep the yellow one to sell (as ordered by the wife). Now the yellow one has to sit outside.

New Dana Spicer diff cover came in for my rear axle.

It now has a threaded fill plug instead of the rubber job that originally comes with the Dana 35.

So I got that painted up last night. Then, changed the fluid over to synthetic and installed a Lube Locker gaskets on both front and rear pumpkins today.

And after all was back together and good I took it for a bath.

Let winter begin.

Are you going to swap the winch over?

Twas a busy week for the TJ. Monday, warrantied a leaking radiator. Tuesday, got the front windows tinted (legal limit here, no need for dumb reasons to get pulled over). Today the hardtop went back on for the winter.

Well I decided to respool my winch cable today and found a pretty substantial pinched/smushed/frayed spot. So I ordered a synthetic line from TRE with safety thimble and hause fairlead. Converting to synthetic was on the to-do list for a while but today just got fast tracked to the front of the line.

Got it all cleaned up from the weekend of fun in the woods and decided to clay bar the hood, doors, cowl and grill(only painted areas.) First time ever doing that and it turned out great. No before or after shots but definitely cleaning up the 19 year old paint a bit.
