Hi folks. 99 TJ 4.0 AX-15 trans.
Bought the Jeep a bit ago and spent a bunch of time on the suspension. Now that is sorted and I’m curious if I have an issue with my transmission or if this is normal for jeeps.
When shifting into 2nd and 3rd there is a bit of a bump like I’m hitting a gear tooth even though the clutch is all the way in. It’s more noticeable when shifting quickly like I’m used to doing in sportier cars. I’ve just been shifting much more slowly in the Jeep to minimize the gear bumping feeling, but it’s still there.
I’m not experienced at troubleshooting transmissions so I’m not sure if this is a clutch issue, trans issue, shifter issue, etc. what do folks think?
The Jeep has 174k miles with a recent engine rebuild.
Thanks for the help!
Luke
