What did you do to your TJ today?

Started messing about to see how my air compressor will mount (Viair 450c on the ABS tray). Output hose wants to occupy the same space as the brake booster - so I'll put a 1/4" street ell on the output port so the hose will go in a better direction. Ended up having to order the ell online, neither Ace nor Homeless Despot had them in stock.
Are you going to use 3/8” DOT. Pushlock to plumb your rig?

Declared victory over my RMS. Amazing what a new valve cover gasket, correct torque all around, and a non stripped oil pan bolt will do. I then promptly spent the money I’d set aside for the RMS replacement on the MORE 1in body lift.

Got a bonus round of "things I did to my TJ today". Driving to the post office, I had the window open - which I don't do all that often. Thank Goddess I did. Heard a tick, tick, tick, tick... that was obviously either a nail in a tire, or a rock in a tire. Of course it was a nail when I got home and checked. So I changed the tire, and will be popping over to Discount Tire tomorrow to get it fixed. I had been needing to go there anyway for a re-balance, so now they get a 2 for 1!

I had a weird idea for my upcoming trip to Moab. I bought a backup camera that has a switch turned on in a power plug in.

But i put it on the front so I can see where I'm going.

Proof of concept.

Showing my packing for the trip and the crap in my garage from our 2 year long remodel. Furniture finally showed up so all the old stuff is ready to donate.

I need to cut the white wire to flip the image.

Me and @Hog -

The timid little TJ approaches the big LJ, nervous, even though he knows he is every bit as capable.....

Sidenote - Of all things I hit a tire and rim laying flat in the road when I got there, head on at 55mph. Didn’t even faze my TJ. I figured I’d get a pull or wobble- but nothing.

The only downside to knowing @Hog is we live in neighboring states, but that probably keeps us out of jail.

They have 102,000 miles combined-mine is 68k, his 33... looks near new too, really fine.

Another Rubibro I see.

Amazing what’s under the carpet…just a little cleanup of 22 years of someone else’s dirt. A dirty Jeep is ok if it’s your dirt…

So instead of buying a carpet kit for a couple hundred bucks, I bought a carpet cleaner. Out came the seats and center console to reveal the filth that lies beneath. My husband said he’d give me two bits if I would eat the French fry under the e brake boot. I said hard pass though tempting.

Out on the grass on hands and knees sucking out 22 years of dirt sand and mostly coffee.

Also it is oddly satisfying to see the filth getting sucked up in a carpet cleaner 😬

Once the Carpet finishes drying in the sun we can reassemble. So disgusting, and so beautiful when clean.

So while the carpet isn’t perfect it is at least cleaner than it was, in decent condition, and the gunk underneath is gone.

Slim our trusty helper guarding the Jeep for a couple days until we get her put back together.
So now getting her back together after drying.

So like I said earlier in the post, not perfect but much better and the rubber mats cover most of it anyway. I did go ahead and use some of the silver bubble wrap that we had purchased at some point for the other Jeep. I’m sure it isn’t the best but it has to be better than nothing. If not I’ll rip it out and do it again but won’t really know until summer.

Changed the oil. Installed a stahlbus valve for easier changes next time. Engine skid makes oil changes a mess. Changed the spark plugs since I hit 84k miles.

Started the jeep up to check for oil leaks and noticed dripping from the ac drain but the jeep has been sitting for a few days. It's not water and has the orange coolant tint to it. Damn it!

Any recommendations on a heater core since everything is out of stock it seems? Performance radiator is out of stock.

I used some foil-faced foam insulation after the tunnel heat started melting the mass backing on my carpet. I don't know to what degree it lowered noise or temps but it stopped the melting.
