Speed, Tire Pressure, Time

Got a question for the group.

Running a tire with too little tire pressure is bad and can cause tire failure. Does anyone have a general rule of thumb on what tire pressure I can reasonably run my 31x10.50's at whilst traveling down reasonably rough dirt and gravel in the 15 - 30 MPH range? I currently go as low as 8 psi in the sand and snow, but that's going fairly slow. Under 10 MPH as a general rule.

My general rule when traversing forest service road/washboard gravel roads is 15psi. Been doing that way for years with no adverse tire wear or damage, both on 31's, 32's, and now 33's.

Nice! I was thinking that 8 psi was a little low. Have you looked at the inside of your tires when you've changed them out? I've destroyed a couple of sets running the pressure low, but that was on a high HP hot rod on the street. A set of Pirellis and a set of Michelins. Of course, those were the exact opposite type of tire and driving condition from KO2's and T/A AT's off road.

I haven't noticed any abnormal wear on the inside or outside of the tires other than a little scuffing.
