I know multiple people have posted about this issue in the past, but I am out of ideas so any advice is appreciated. I have been dealing with a slow start issue on my 2000 2.5L TJ for about 8 months. It typically takes 4-8 attempts to get the engine to fire. I read the other forums and decided even though I could hear the fuel pump engaging, I was most likely experiencing the same pressure issue as many others. I finally replaced the fuel pump and replaced the battery two days ago, but I am still having the same issue. The vehicle is easier to start after it has only been turned off for a few minutes. Could this issue be related to a clogged injector or fuel rail? A friend who is a mechanic briefly checked it and we both agree it seems to be some type of fuel issue. Thanks again for any advice.

Since you replaced the fuel pump have you checked the fuel pressure at the fuel rail ?
What is the maker of the fuel pump you installed ?
There are many replacement pumps available, but only the Mopar and Delta (IIRC) are the recommended pumps to use.
Have you looked into having the fuel injectors professionally cleaned ?

I haven't checked the pressure at the fuel rail since I replaced the pump, but I did have it checked at a local garage prior to the change and they said the pressure was adequate. I was unable to find a Mopar so I went with a Carquest simply because it was the best that was in stock at my local parts store. Maybe I should look into having the injectors professionally cleaned. I am having similar problems and I found this thread, I’m curious if you have figured out the problem since your original post?
I did and my fuel pressure is fine! So is my battery and already had fuel injectors replaced so feeling stumped
What was your pressure? Weak spark? How are your plugs and wires? What spark plugs are you running and how many miles on them?
It was around 50, my spark plugs were replaced around December not sure what brand but less than 1,000 miles for sure on them.
