while not perfect that looks better than a gap running up to the top of the flares
It took a lot of time (probably because I just suck at these type of things) and I was paranoid I was going to ruin my flares.
I did buy a set as a backup set pretty soon after that though
Best thing to is to buy and install corners at the same time. Then the rears aren't an issue. Not just to avoid the trimming, but because corners are good insurance.
