Different Heater Motor Blowers for 97 TJ?

Hey everyone, thanks for adding me to this group!

My heater blower recently went out and I'm still diagnosing what the issue can be. I've taken a look at all the great advice that has been posted to this forum and cant wait to get my hands dirty.

But before I start pulling stuff apart I wanted to get your advice.

I've been doing some research on the heater motor blower and in the part catalog for the 97 TJ it shows a motor blower with a pigtail, but all the ones I've seen have the male prongs to plug into.

Is there 2 different kinds of motor blowers, (please see pictures attached)? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Very early 97 TJs definitely used some different electrical components than later 97 TJs did. My 3/96 manufactured 97 TJ used several 95 YJ parts like the TPS.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if your 97 used a 95 fan motor.

Good info to know.
I think my 97 was built in 6/96 (but I'm currently at work and unable to verify. I know it was built in 96 for sure).
I'm thinking of replacing the fan motor once spring comes. (Way too cold to do anything I don't have to now).

I think there is an issue with my duct or door and not necessarily the fan motor...but at this point in it's life, it's only a matter of time.
I'll probably just have to live with it until spring.

A better question for me now would be is there any type of "upgrade" that can be used to replace the fan motor. (ie: a Cherokee's fits in the space but forces out more air, etc).

How would one know when the jeep is built?

Yeah, I figured once one thing went out, might as well replace everything.

My Jeep's manufacture date is on a sticker on the door (where the latch is).
Otherwise, you can check the VIN number online.

Not that I am aware of.
