Well I misspoke yesterday.... I won't be working on my rear axle today or the parts associated with rear axle. I'd forgot I've got a doctors appointment in Yakima today. So I'll be back at it on Wednesday instead.

I don't have any good shots of the spot we were trying to crawl over. There was a method to our madness.
This was the spot but it's hard to really see what was happening.
It was either lean into the rock on the right or the left.
Could make it this far and then you were leaned over.
Yes there was a bypass BUT where is the fun in that?
This is part of BFE in Moab.
Maybe it's the strap and the winch line making it look more like you fucked up...
On that note looks like Area BFE is open again. $100/day or $500/week.
Harder to find in 2023 but $5000 can still buy you a lot of fun! XJ, Samurai, YJ, ragged out Truggy, etc..... Hell, buddy of mine found a ZJ with a 5.9 and heated leather seats, lifted it and threw FB marketplace 33's on it and went out and had 27 minutes of fun! We since then have done some reinforcing

Could have had 27 minutes of fun having sex. A lot cheaper, doesn't require getting on FB, and probably more fun.
Getting some corner armor within two weeks. I think I need A-Pillar armor. GR is the only one that looks good. I really don't like the UCF version. Still don't want to turn over my rig. I'd need more than armor to come out of that unscathed. Of course, mine's a DD. I just don't drive daily.
Choose wisely! 27 minutes of sex has cost me a lot more than $5K. Just in the last few years off the top of my head; an inground pool, college tuition, teenager insurance rates, etc.....

This was after the YJ had tried for a while and she broke her front axle/diff so we had to winch her out too. Neither of us made it. The other 3 rigs in the group were smarter and took the bypass. You would have been bored as we were there for about 2-3 hours playing trying to figure out how to climb it, if I'd had rear steer I could have done it. That undercut on the right swallowed my 38" tires which was why you had to go over to the left so far. I'm sure a buggy could have done it.
Played with trying to lean the Jeep using the air springs but it didn't help. But all in all it was a LOAD of fun.
Back when it was donation each of us would put in a minimum of $25-50 to play there. So is that per rig or each group? I'd pay the $100 for the day to play there. There are a lot of trails and some great crawling spots.
I only had corners and tube fenders. I scratched the crap out of them. And yes I had a trailer to take the Jeep home with. But I wheeled for years when all I had was my wheeling rig.
It sure does. And I'm not sure I ever got 27 minutes of sex out of the deal either....... My picker of women is seriously broken.

It's an addiction for him. We can have a intervention but it's probably going to cost him more...
We'd find parts he needs..
If he needs a pre '03 body there's one West of the mountains that just went up for sale...

I'll be honest and say I was getting burned out on the Jeep again. But seeing the axles done has helped a lot.
If I get everything setup on the rear that will be a big moral booster for me. Seeing it mostly done just means I'm that much closer.
Once I've got the driveshaft installed and isn't sitting on the air springs I can install the tires and run it for a bit to start breaking in the gears.
That won't be for a while longer since I'll have to have the garage door open. But it's a goal.
