Some of you may know my daughter lives 12 hrs away to the west of me. And this weekend is when all the planets and time frames had aligned for Jeep Repair Weekend. It was not to be. The transfer case in my 01 3/4 ton suburban decided at 430 am (approx 2.5 km from my place) to destroy itself. 
Limped it home and spent the rest of the day figuring out what to do with it. And of course the rear hitch is rusted in place and the garage is just that much to short to close the overhead door. And at -24c its not much fun. 15 min outside, 1/2 hr to warm up.
Research on the web provided info that the NP 246 has a habit of wearing a pin hole or two (due to ratcheting of the oil pump in the case)and the lube disappears. No oil was found when I pulled the drain plug. So found one at the local pick and pull for 400 bucks but its too friggen cold. Going down to -31c tonight. And thats my story for today.
