Utah Moab June Fest 2023 Week of June 11th

From posts of the confirmed, these are the trails that were listed and close to town:
*Pritchett
*Trifecta (Spike, Bar, Nail)
*Top of the World
*Hell's
Moab Rim
Kane Kreek
Fin's for the kids
Behind the Rocks
*Listed multiple times

Other trails listed:
Coyote Canyon - No permits available
Ben (looking for someone else to wheel with on Sat 6/17)- Hole in the Rock
Trevor and Matt discussing longer trails for overnight, I think they were elephant hill and/or white rim?

Has the snow melt and the flooding of the Colorado river affected(or will it affect) any trails?

From the people who are confirmed, what days are you wheeling? I think some will be Sun-Fri, some Mon-Fri, some Sun-Sat, etc.... so possibly the actual days. I tried to wing it from reading posts, but this may not be correct, I can edit to correct later:
Sun- Ben, Ryan, Trevor, Woodrow
Mon- Ben, Ryan, Trevor, Woodrow, Victor, Matt
Tues-Ben, Ryan, Trevor, Woodrow, Victor, Matt
Wed-Ben, Ryan, Trevor, Woodrow, Victor, Matt
Thurs-Ben, Ryan, Trevor, Woodrow, Victor, Matt
Fri-Ben, Ryan, Trevor, Woodrow, Victor, Matt
Sat - Ben

In my mind I'm thinking we should do something like this to start the week but I'm flexible.

Sunday - I was thinking something like Steelbender as a fairly easy and scenic first day for those there.
Monday - Baby lions back, Fins (could do the first section back to the road as the rest is about the same as Hell's), Hell's, TotW
Tuesday - Pritchett
Wednesday - Trifecta
Thursday - ???
Friday - ???
Saturday - ???

Could move Trifecta to Thursday to put a break in there after Pritchett because the Trifecta can make for a long day.

As far as flooding, Kane Creek could be an issue.

@Mrs.Apparition Would like to have a fire and grilling at our cabin at the KOA one night (thinking the night after the Pritchett run) for whomever wants to join. She can deal with the specifics on that.

Sounds like a plan and I appreciate the organization, App. I think Pritchett is probably beyond me and my Jeep for this year at least. I may go mountain biking that day.

I don't think Trevor @lBasket will run Pritchett so you if you want to wheel somewhere he'd be available unless he sneaks a ride with someone else.

My KOA rez ends on Friday so I'll be packing and heading out that day. Rest of the days are correct for me

Steelbender easy? I think that's the hardest trail I've done out there so far. Fun way to start though lol

Is ToTW close to Hell's? I'd really like to do it while the sun is up this year.

Don't you end up not making it back to camp til like 8pm+ every time you do pritchett? Are you sure that's the best day to plan the BBQ? I'll be there either way anyways.

Yes I have no business trying pritchett yet. Totally might be down to meet up for a different trail. We do want to do Elephant hill so that might be the day to try it

Mine too but depending on what I may be able to do something in the morning.

You had no problem doing Steelbender last year. The wall obstacle and it's bypass are the only issue.

TotW isn't close to anything. IIRC about 1/2 hour from Moab to the trail head.

If we don't have a 1 wheel drive rig on 42's to get out it shouldn't be an issue. Plus Mrs App won't be going on that one this year so the fire can be ready to go.

Isn't checkout 11am?

No problems but just wouldn't call it easy haha. Very fun trail and it is really nice how close it is.

Okay sweet well hopefully no one breaks down then lol

Kane was fairly low when we where there and it was in the 80s. Unless something changed I'd imagine you'd have no issue getting through.

Pritchett shouldn’t be into the night. I think we finished around 5 or so? We were in traffic too.

Elephant Hill is a long drive. With my current mileage, gas would be an issue. It’s a beautiful trail/area.

Yeah, doesn't mean I can't stay in Moab for a while. Mrs App can go shopping.

Is it really any more difficult than the trifecta?

Yeah looks like it's 54 miles from the closest gas station? Definitely a bit far. I wonder if I should bring my plastic gas can for that trip lol. We've never done it so we're gonna try to make it happen.

True I guess it probably isn't too hard to find somewhere to park a truck w/ a trailer out there.

Good question... If you're including rusty nail instead, probably not. Might just be that I did the trifecta on 31s and no lift so it feels pretty easy now lol. You're right that it's just that one rocky descent that I am thinking of, the rest wasn't nearly as memorable

I get around 12-13 mpg and made it there and back. From what I remember we filled up at the south end of town before leaving. I think the gas light turned on right as we were off the trail but knowing I could get 80 miles on the road once that light came on didn't have me too worried.

Bringing a few gallons though would likely be worth it for peace of mind.

Yeah I think I get similar MPGs, so good to know. There is one station on the way that isn't as close as the closest one, but farther south than Moab. Would probably be pretty safe to stop there.

Hopefully that isn't one of those stations that just refuse to fill the tank all the way

First time I did elephant hill I drove the jeep down and back. Hit the Shell by the KOA on the way back and the low fuel light had just come on. Had 5 gallons in a spare can just incase.

Second time I trailered down and back. Much less to worry about.

It's been said on here and also at the link below that there is gas available at the needles outpost.

I will probably do the following as of right now, but it can and will most likely change;
Sun - Mt Bike Phil's World in Cortez CO on our way to moab.
Mon- Run Fins/Hell's with you all in the morning. Then mt bike the slick rock trail in the afternoon.
Tues - Pritchett with you
Wed - Trifecta with you (ok if Wed and Thurs swap)
Thurs - ToTW and Dome Plateau with my buddy in his stock Tacoma. Dome plateau looks scenic and his tacoma should be OK, if need be he can walk the end of ToTW or I can drop off and come back and pick him and his gf up so they can see the view.
Fri - Mountain Bike Navajo Rocks and do some town shopping
Sat - Early departure to head home.

Will probably join you all at the campfire the one night and also ride the Moab BRAND trails one night.

I am pretty flexible, but here is my plan.

I will be arriving in the area Thursday night 8th. Since I didn't get anyone to join me for Hole In the Rock on Saturday 17th, I will go there on the Friday 9th instead.

Sat 10th I will be in Moab ready to wheel if anyone is there yet.

Sun- Fri, wheel with the group

Sat 17th, I will be around if anyone wants to wheel that day.

I would like to do Metal Masher at some point during the week since it's been a few years since I have done it.

I think @rasband was planning on trying widow maker anyways so we gotta make it to metal masher
