To many miles. The 4.0 can go up to 300,000, but I wouldn't chance it.

Selling my 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport
The color is a very dark violet.
Professionally installed 2.5" suspension lift.
It has the bulletproof 4.0L straight six motor. One of the best motors AMC has ever built. No leaks or strange noises.
The transmission is a 5 speed stick shift. The 4x4 works perfectly.
Soft top is only one month old. It is an upgraded one that is frameless, has built in safari top, built in storage compartments, and interior cargo nets for extra storage. The plastic windows on the soft top are also upgraded with tint.
Has 5 matching brand new off road tires that are in great shape.
Running boards
Carpet
Rear seat

Thank you and happy shopping!!!
I've read on here somewhere that the mileage does not actually accumulate (register) on the odometer when being towed. If that is true (someone please chime in on that), then the PO is blowing smoke up your skirt. As for the 4.0 going way over 200,000 miles, all you have to do is look on Craigslist at the number of them that are for sale (in TJs, XJs, etc...) to see how many of them have 300,000+ miles on 'em. That says something, if you ask me. By the way, I love Medford. My wife is from there! So here's another jeep on my weekend hunting trip for my first TJ. Listed on c'list for 6.2 K with 209 K miles. I know the high miles kills me. The PO says that it was towed behind an RV - I want to believe them but what do you do? I looked at a TJ Wednesday night from a veteran TJ owner and he told me the 6 cyl go way beyond 200 K.

We love Medford as well.... Thanks for the input - I'm curious on the odometer question as well.

Believe it from someone that flat tows his jeep, the odometer does not accumulate miles when flat towing. The drivetrain, minus the engine, does accumulate miles.
Sorry to go off subject, but what braking system do you use when you flat tow?
My 97 SE has the electric odometer, just fyiDid any of the TJs have mechanical odometers? Maybe a '97, or an SE?
LOL I like the way you just killed two birds with one stone, there, @KCsTJ! So if no TJs had mechanical odometers, then I guess the idea of miles racking up because they were towed is just a "mistake" on a seller's part, because we all know that a seller wouldn't outwardly lie to us just to make a sale...My 97 SE has the electric odometer, just fyi
Congrats on your new Jeep! Do you like the color blue?I have been looking for months for a tj . And awhile back asked on here about what to look for . Several people mentioned the frame and to go for the six over the four . I looked at several . What surprised me is the different levels of rust that I found on the frames from tj to tj. I know for me it's hard to be patient when I have the money to spend . Keep looking and find the one that checks all the boxes on your wish list .I just bought mine four days ago . Good luck
Yes color didn't matter too much but blue is my favorite color .just happened to be the color of the one I foundCongrats on your new Jeep! Do you like the color blue?
