Rescued this guy from my pool. He crawled away after a few minutes of rest.
Asked my 9yo if he wanted to come out and see it. Said he would rather look at the pictures later lol.

yeah, that would have been thrown into my pond for my 36"++ channel catfish to eat. Another reason I will stay away from states with those kind of creatures.
Fire season is in full swing here in central WA. First really bad air quality day we've had.
The smoke hit HARD here in southern OR yesterday evening. Fortunately it's much better this morning.
You all deal with this yearly? It is not typically a thing in the mid Atlantic but some Canadian fire did impact us with smoke quite bit this summer.
To a certain extent most of the western and midwestern states deal with it every year. So far, with the exception of Canada, it has been a relatively light fire season, this year. That's thanks in part to the unusually cooler and wetter June weather. July was hotter and drier, so we saw an uptic in spot fires but not a lot of massive fire outbreaks. This month is trending cooler and wetter again so there is a hope that this years fire season ends earlier than previous years, at least in the most prone fire areas.
Right now Hurricane Hilary, is looking set to cause WAY more distruction on the south western coast and possibly as far inland as Arizona with heavier rains and winds than normal. Monsoon season is no joke in AZ and this could make it even worse for lowland areas.

The first one reminds me of a pride flag, second one is way more classy

And since I'm talking birds, I have some unique opportunities through work to handle some unique things that not a lot of people deal with. So this is what the talons on a bald eagle look like up close! Wouldn't want those coming at me!

Yea, I was kinda thinking the "pride flag" thing too - although I'd hope that having the same color top/bottom would help mitigate that. Still, "pride flag" is the absolute LAST thing I want to be associated with, esp. in this context...

Couple days ago the smoke was very thick and this guy flew into the house. I think it's a peregrine falcon.
It's a sad thing that it's come to that. I really like bright, vibrant "Caribbean" colors. If you put too many colors together, people assume it's some kind of "pride" BS.
Still very smokey here. The moon was blood red through the smoke last night. No filters or messing with color here.
Was surprised to see that the local walmart carries records and players.
