I'm getting ready to go change the sensor now, I talked to the guy at my local parts store and he just went through the same thing with his Dakota. Turned out to be the distributor pickup assembly so I had him get one of those on hand for me also. If that stuff isn't the problem I'll try the ignition switch.I, on the other hand, have had at least a half a dozen coils fail on me. No kidding. But it sounds like he has already eliminated that as the culprit, so it's a non-issue. I've had ignition switches fail to where there's power to the distributer when in the "On" position (spark at the points, which tells you the vintage of said vehicles), but once you start cranking, there is no power getting to the dizzy. I've forgotten what the actual reason was, but I replaced the ignition switches in both cars, and the issue was resolved. Seems like a longshot, but just thought I'd mention it...
