Ok. I have a few questions, and looking for advice…

Let’s say I bought this lift kit: https://jksmfg.com/collections/wran...97-2006-wrangler-tj-lj?variant=39576573935775
That comes with:
  • Front and Rear Dual Rate Coil Springs
  • JPEC Custom Valved Gas Shocks
  • Front Adjustable Trackbar
  • Front Sway Bar Quicker Disconnects
  • Front Brake Line Relocation
  • Rear Track Bar Bracket
  • Rear Bump Stop Extensions
First question- is it worth it to upgrade to the fox shocks if most of my driving is on road with some being on fire road/easy to moderate trails.

Second question- what else would I need to really make sure everything is done right? I was suggested the following:
  • Pittman/idle arms
  • rear sway bar link
  • Control arms
  • Steering stabilizer shock
  • Trackbar
Are these going to be needs/wants/should haves? I want the Jeep to drive correctly without issues

Lastly, I have stock wheels with 31” tires. Will I need to get new wheels that have backspace?

Thanks in advance, still new to all this stuff and trying to figure things out.

I just put that lift on, and it’s very nice. Very similar ride to stock. The shocks are a little stiff on small/quick bumps, but nice and supple on the slower dip style bumps. I added a 1.25” body lift, mainly because I went with 33s. If your 31s aren’t rubbing now, they shouldn’t rub with lift, so no need for wheels.

edit: the “recommended items you listed aren’t needed for this lift.

  • Pittman/idle arms
  • rear sway bar link
  • Control arms
  • Steering stabilizer shock
  • Trackbar

No dropped pitman arm needed.
No extended rear links needed, or they probably would have been included. (Although I never ran a 2" lift)
No adjustable control arms needed at 2" of lift.
No new steering shock needed unless your factory one is bad.
No rear adjustable trackbar needed since you're getting a rear relocation bracket.

None of these are needed, nor should you want them for the type of wheeling you plan to do.
Unless you just like to spend money. ;)

1.25” savvy Body lift and run 33

A body lift doesn't change the suspension so you still wouldn't need any of those things.
You may have to modify the transfer case linkage which mounts to the body.
And adjust the fan shroud.
And so on, and so on. ;)

Plus MML?

Only if you have vibes; which you shouldn't at 2".

I wouldn't do it just to avoid moving the fan shroud.
Again, unless you just like to spend money. ;)

If he goes with the body lift, there’s a chance the mml is needed…

Installed the Jks 2” kit with fox shocks option and bfg ko2 32” tires followed by balancing/alignment. No additional mods were needed, very smooth ride on highway/road and great off road ride too. Can’t complain at all.

JKS 2” lift- closer 2.5” pics below w/30’s then 33x10.5x15. No adjustable track bars, no body lift, no MML, no bump stop extensions, no sway disconnects no issues in the suspension dept. You do The sway bar disconnects you may want revisit the bump stops.

I used a 1” wheel spacer to put the factory wheel where I wanted it, and change the to the shock of your choice- in my case the 5000x Rancho.

Meh, the $50 was worth not cutting or redrilling for me. But it also helped my shifter placement too…

My opinion was based on the fact that I've done both over the years.
In fact, I've had to move the shroud multiple times.
I'm also considering removing the MML.
