Crown replacement door handles vs OE Mopar

Has anyone ever replaced their door handles with the Crown replacements? Mopar ones are around $100 each, whereas the Crown handles are less than half that.

Normally I am OE 100%, but with something as simple as a door handle, I have to ask.

Lol the irony... I just purchased a set of crowns from amazon this morning, I’ll report back when I install them. I’m not interested in spending $240 on a set of handles. We’ll see how it goes.

Back when I had my yj I bought chrome Crown replacements. They started rusting within 2 weeks, very poor quality finish.Can't speak as to painted ones quality, good luck tho....

I installed aftermarket door handles in my last TJ. They worked very well and the finish help up great. I would use them again.

I got the crown handles today, outting them on tomorrow. They appear to be really really nice. But my current door handles are so damn bad. I’ll report back tomorrow.

I look forward to it. I’m concerned about fit and finish. Is the powder coat decent? And once you install them, let us know if there are any gaps or if they fit poorly.

Will do, PC is equal to what came on my orfab brackets. I won’t know how the PC holds up till some rain gets on em.

Its not as much of a pain as the rest of the process is according to my peer. I’ve removed the door panel many times

Okay maybe a stupid question. Why are you replacing them? Finish or function? Bought my son a TJ recently and we”re preparing to repaint...they work fine. Anything I should know?

It's rare for them to fail, so they're almost always replaced due to finish.

@JamesAndTheSahara, One of mine pops out about an 1/4" when I close the door (see image below). When you have yours out can you take a look and tell me how those are held in so then don't pop out any? I looked and really didn't see anything.

They are held in by “step wedges”. I think you can drive them in with a long thin rod with the window rolled down. If it’s flexing as much as the pic the wedge on one side may have fallen out all together. Look inside the bottom of the door if it has.

Yes, this is what I kept reading on the reviews about them, which is why most people seemed to rate them poorly. Everyone was saying that they have gap, which I don't like the idea of.

I'm only considering replacing mine because my powder coat on mine is worn so much that they look weathered and old.
