Having some trans issue with my 2004 4.0 auto TJ. In the last 2 days I've been gifted the trans limp mode but it's gone away after shutting her down and starting back up. 222xxx miles and it did have a leaky pan that was fixed last fall. Have had the occasional slight slippage since them but nothing major. Now I'm getting more slippage and the mentioned limp mode. Hoping for a bad TCM but looking for others experiences. Getting P0944, P1776 and P0218 on my reader. Have the battery unhooked right now trying to reset the codes so I can see if they ask come back. Anyone else have this set of codes come up and have it be the TCM or was it more major like the valve body/solenoid?

Slippage sounds like an actual problem (possibly the torque converter), not a PCM issue.

Obligatory "run a temp gauge on your transmission, especially if it's a 42RLE" reply.

Agree with LONGJP2, if you actually feel lit slipping then I would not suspect a computer issue.
