Per how things usually go… Getting the LJ ready for a trip to upstate NY and my pre cats started rattling this weekend. Wasn’t able to diagnose it until today.

What are the recommendations for a replacement on these. I’ve reviewed some threads and it seems everything from Walker, Flowmaster, magnaflow, but none of the threads seemed recent.
I need to try and get this replaced by next week as well, so I’m kind of in scramble mode. Thanks for the help!

Also what brand O2 sensors? I don’t have any codes but figure this might be the time to replace them.
 
I put a set of the flowmasters on my 05 Rubi about 5 weeks ago. they fit perfect . For 02 sensors get NTK/NGK, some on here are saying the walkers are working. check out the 02 sensor thread under the resources section for part numbers

Was your piping mandrel bent on the flowmaster setup? The pictures show it as mandrel bent but saw some reviews online of the bends and it wasn’t.
 
Well looks like I missed the party on that one! Looks like my only shot right now is getting the HM grade from Magnaflow and having it overnighted.

I was really lucky. both my bolts and 02 sensors came right out with no hassle. my 02 sensors took a slight pop with a open end wrench and then came out by hand. same with the bolts so I was able to reuse them just had to add washers because the holes on the new cats were bigger than on the original. if your getting ready to do it I would start spraying them with a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone because odds are yours wont pop right out like mine did....

Will do, I saw some threads of people saying they needed longer bolts with the magnaflow and others saying they don't. Has me a little hesitant to try an tackle it myself, but i would like too. I found a shop that will do it next tuesday, but i hate letting people work on my jeep.

I purchased some flange bolts at ACE when I installed the Flowmasters a few years back. The fasteners take a lot of heat so I didn’t want to chance them breaking on me. I also used nickel based anti-seize that’s good up to 2400*f.

You can probably do the job yourself.

For me, the key is to reach up using a ratcheting wrench for the fasters using your forearm and bicep to pull towards the direction you are turning. Just average them all on so the flange squarely tightens up to make a good seal.

It’s a terrible time using a non ratcheting wrench.

living in PA yea i'd probably let a shop do it your probably going to have to fight to remove your bolts and 02 sensors.

I'm going to take a look at them later today, my jeep is pretty rust free only has 75K mile on it and is always in a garage and rarely out in the winters.

me either, but I've seen enough threads here on people going through hell to get them loose. I'm a retired aircraft mechanic and am used to having to break my arm in 3 places to reach a bolt and this was no trouble for me and I still have every imaginable combination of extensions and sockets.
