Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

OK the first video was loaded as a short video... so I made a new one that got loaded as a video. Not sure why...

The first was sent to "shorts" hell because of its length AND because the phone recorded it as vertical despite how it was held. When pointing it more-or-less straight down, it gets confused as to orientation. My DSLR will sometimes do the same thing. The second recorded as horizontal, so it became a "regular" video despite its short length - "shorts" accepts ONLY vertical.

With that said, any video can be rotated in a video editor, although it only makes sense to do so in a situation similar to this.

Alaska has the bonus of paying you to "live" (establish residence) there...

It's not what it once was, they figured out how to dip the fingers into that pie too, you know for "programs"

My son got $1200 last year. It's not like the 6-7 thousand it was back in the 80s.

Also you have to be in the state for 180+ days to claim the PFD, otherwise you go to jail. Like the two oldest boys from the stupid show Alaskan bush people

Yep the 80's were good for this... I was there when they first started it. While I LOVE AK and think it's a beautiful state I'm too old & fat & not interested in dealing with the cold anymore.

Appointment got changed that I had with the VA today. Couldn't sleep last night and wasn't gunna drive 2 hours each way on no sleep.
Need to run into town today or tomorrow morning and pick up a new bottle of welding gas. Then I can work on the swaybar mount.

Decided to not cut the swaybar bracket off completely but instead just cut about 3/4 way through it.

You can see where it's rubbing.

I bent it out after cutting it then welded on the outside

And on the inside of the bend.

I'll reinstall the current air spring for now to see if it still rubs. If I've clearanced it enough I'll then install a new air spring.

Also adjusted the hydo-assist ram mount on the tie-rod. It had been just rubbing on the diff cover.

All the parts for the transmission shifter cable should be here tomorrow. So I should be able to get the transmission back together and get it filled with fluid. Then Monday I can do a flow test on it also.

Retorqued the screws/bolts on the valve body. They were all looser than they were supposed to be.

Also ran the rear cooler lines up under the heat shield to get them away from the exhaust.

I'm just going to run the rear transmission cooler to start with when I put it back together.

I'll see how it does with just the rear cooler first.

Hopefully the valve body screws/bolts being loose might have been part of the issue?

They were saying it wouldn't be back on until 1530 but it just came back on.... There has to be a local issue since it's always just my area that keeps having the power outage. Hopefully they'll get whatever it is figured out SOON so we stop having these outages.

Now back to Jeep stuff...

Looks like the Lava Tube Sleeve won't be here until tomorrow or Monday. And I need it to be able to get the transmission shifter cable installed. The last of the parts for the valve body will be here today so I can at least get the transmission buttoned back up. And I can still get the shifter cable ran once the transmission is back together. Just can't hook everything back up until I have the sleeve. Of course everything comes through USPS now from Amazon and my mail isn't delivered until later in the afternoon.

Forgive me if you’ve mentioned it earlier, which cooler did you go with and why?

How do you like that torque wrench? Does it have a max/min torque?

The rear cooler is a B&M Hi-Tek cooler with fan... I used it because I had it and was getting transmission temps higher than I like so I'd added this as a 2nd aux cooler.

I've got a Hayden aux cooler in the front also along with the transmission cooler in the radiator. But I was having overheating issues so I'm just going to try using the rear one first. I've got a Hayden aux cooler for my power steering also since I'm running a hydroboost and hydro-assist.

Honestly I HATE that Craftsman torque wrench. I like a click type torque wrench better. This one just beeps and has a digital readout. And yes it's a 12lb to 120 lb or 120inch to 1200 inch.

Would you recommend either of those coolers?

I love click types, I got an Icon 3/8 from HF and I think it’s amazing. They included a calibration analysis in the box with the dudes name (may be a bluff or whatever but I thought it was nice). Instead of the stupid twisty knob on the bottom you just pull the lock ring down and twist the handle till you get your desired spec. I haven’t used it a crazy amount but I like it. I can only see a use for the digital ones if you were using the angle mode. I have yet to encounter torque to yield or angles when torquing but it’s inevitable and I’m not sure how much I trust the simple attachments that snap on like sockets

The preferred transmission cooler on here is the Setrab Proline SLM

I'd already built my hoses and bracket for two aux coolers up front so I went with the Hayden since they were the same size as my previous coolers.

This one is preferred if it solves a cooling problem you have, but without a gauge you won't know if you have a problem or how any given solution you try improves it.

I do appreciate that the setrab is a passive solution, but I've not gotten hot enough on my 42rle to pressure me into installing mine yet.
