Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

So can I....

Didn't say for how long... Just than I can... Plus even if the cable breaks I can still shift it...

But you're not helping any.... Some up with something innovative to fix this issue... Something that can actually work...

Have you come across this company?
Snap-Grip® (SAM-1000) Heat Shielded Cable Bundling – ZT https://share.google/2PpasrabsVL5ZpFMA

They seem to have some clever products that are easy to install with snaps or zippers. It's all custom made so I have no clue what their prices are like. But you're in this awkward spot where even if the solution is somewhat expensive, it's necessary and cheaper than other alternatives (installing an 8-speed). Might be worth layering something else over the heat wrap you already bought.

That is more or less what I'm doing with the stuff I'm using from DEI except it's velcro instead of snaps or a zipper.

I'm just hoping that stacking all this stuff together can cut down on the heat on the shifter cable. I can't figure out anything else to do.

I'm optimistic that the new wrap, new exhaust wrap, new tune, and trans cooler fix will have you up and operational! 🤞🏼

Only time-trail time will tell.... Need to get it out and work it. Granted I haven't tried driving it @ 70 MPH down the freeway but that isn't what it's made for either.

I don't have to either... You guys are wasting bandwidth and sounding like broken records...

But its more fun this way!

Seriously - I do feel for ya. You've been "running the gauntlet" with your Jeep the last couple of weeks. Hopefully, when you see the light at the end of the tunnel, it isn't the headlight of an approaching train!

What about plain old stainless steel shifter cable? No plastic to melt....

Find me one that will replace a Winters shifter cable. 4' long with 3" stroke & 1/4 x 28 threads on the ends of the cable. Even a OEM style would work but none fit without a ton of mods.

TCI & B&M use a different size so without completely redoing everything I can't just use a cable from someone else. The only cable I could find similar was from Pegasus Racing.

There used to be a place in North Everett that custom made cables. I wonder if @Squatch would know if they are still open or not. I think it was called Green Shields. I think they made custom sheathed cables as well as HD winch and hoist cables.

*Let me know if there's anything I can do to help with this, Rick. They are literally mere minutes away from me.
