Today I'm eastbound on Hwy 380 in Princeton, Texas doing about 55 or so against a stiff wind and a bit uphill so the Jeep is straining some (at 166k and a transmission rebuild 20k miles ago per POs records)..
..and instantly the engine revs as if I had just knocked it into neutral.
I pull over thinking I don't need to be stranded in Princeton much less anywhere. :-/
I have nothing but Park. No forward, no reverse. Park works fine, but that it.
It's now sitting in Eagle Transmission awaiting a diagnosis.
I put it in drive and set the E brake, crawled underneath and could hear a sort of whirring sound coming from the front of the tranny.
Tough to hear with 18 wheelers whizzing by :/
I know engines, not trannys.
Any ideas ???

I've lost a few transmissions over the years and they did exactly as you described except i had at least one gear to get home.

That’s a big win in our area! If you are ever stranded and need some help, give me a shout. I’ll msg you my number.

Yeah I had some thoughts around a “TX TJ Distress Network”. We’ve got North Texas covered, @JMT & @b0xcar have Central Texas. I’ve seen an active member out in the Panhandle area but can’t recall the name. We’d need South and East Texas and we’d be sorta set!

It’d be a last ditch emergency reach out after other resources had been exhausted, but would be a nice option if you were truly stranded.

What about losing the TCase chain?

I'm thinking.... that would be wonderful if that's all it is... I'm not really sure.
I'm thinking if the T case chain broke it would have made all sorts of noise??
There was no big clank or noise.
Just the engine revving up and No forward drive. No leaks under the jeep, well no new leaks from the tranny trauma today anyway

@TJ2 is our panhandle guy. I’ve got some people looking at text messaging tools that could be setup so that you could text a number and it goes out to a group. Then you can reply to that individual without every response going to a group message. Depending on the cost it may be easier/cheaper just to share everyone’s numbers and have it go through group. I’ll keep you guys posted and put something in the Texas Jeepers post for anyone else that may be interested.

@JMT, @b0xcar, @TJ2 - Send me your first name and cell number if you want to participate. It would be for emergency purposes only and no numbers will be shared without permission.
