Hello all,
i have a very nice '04 Rubicon that i have invested a fair amount of money in , its mosty a grocery getter but looks real nice and clean.
i live in Rapid City SD, crime is low here but only takes one person to steal it.
i noticed on my recent renewal tags it has a valve of $2500 i have more in tires and wheels than that

What are you'all using for a theft deterant short of a chain around the steering wheel

Alarm for the hood since it can be opened easily, hidden kill switch, and if I ever need to leave it anywhere sketchy overnight I have one of these: https://disklokusa.com/ Course if they have a wrecker you're pretty much screwed although you can turn the wheels all the way in one direction and lock the steering wheel to make it harder to drag from the back.

Visual deterents can go a long way to stopping a theft. Making it appear to be more than a quick steal will stop most smash and grab types of theft. A kill switch is a great option and should be added but it won't stop someone from trashing your steering column trying to start it. A good wheel lock is a worthwile investment. They can be removed but it shows that you have taken steps to harden your vehicle making the one down the street more attractive. The biggest issue that the TJ suffers from is it is ridiculously easy to break in to. It takes less time to open the door with a screwdriver than it would take to break a window and reach interior lock. When I lived in a high crime area I removed my door lock cylinders entirely and used a electric door lock kit. The absolute best option is an agreed upon value insurance policy.

Why not just hide a air tag somewhere in it ? The "NEW OWNER" will get that "OH SHIT" look on his face when I show up with my title in one hand and a .45 or AR in the other !

Don't forget, OJ went to prison for doing just that.

(And yes, one of the "Sports Memorabilia" items that he tried to reclaim was a TJ 🙂)
