Pretty interesting in theory, though the use of technology seems like it has the potential to be an Achilles' heel. Betting it's quite expensive as well, most municipalities would probably opt for the sleeping policeman. And I do wonder how such a thing would work in cold climates with ice and snow.

"Actibump has been used successfully in Sweden for more than ten years."

I'm sure it takes some maintenance, but it's quite doable. I like the idea better than having to drive over fixed bumps or get a speeding ticket in the mail from traffic cams.

Drifting, to the extent of what "drifting" has come to be, has never really done anything for me. Yes, I absolutely agree that it takes skill, but I still don't get it. Same with "burnout" contests. But to each their own, right? That's why I can say that I like cars without hoods, and done properly, I'm fine with "fake patina". I also prefer weathered paint to an illustrious shine. But again, that's just my own preference.

I once watched a documentary where an American kid in Japan put a Nissan engine in an old Mustang and then beat the baddest drifter in the region.

Funny thing is he was sent over there after racing a Viper with a Monte Carlo through a housing development.

Wild. How much faith do you have that I or someone smarter than me won't be actively trying to hack the controls of "Actibumps" for fun? :sneaky:

Flock traffic cameras contracted by police can be hacked/have been hacked.

In the Flock privacy statement to police depts. on page 57 , it probably states by using this service all images and information is being sent to google .

I have a deep seated hatred of mass surveillance systems like that. I got a letter in the mail form one of those plate scanners trying to extort me for $90. Now I'm ready to burn that whole system down along with anyone in it. I've heard that you can make plate data FOIA request to a police department using FLOCK, and they legally cannot provide the information, which jams them up. I haven't tried it yet, but I have plans since those damn cameras are popping up everywhere around here.

I think it's one of Steve Lehto's videos where he states the specific FOIA request that can't be met.

You...uh...you probably shouldn't watch these videos then... :devilish:

And then there's the whole RING network...

From a couple of quick searches I did, it seems like the use of flock and other camera surveillance systems is being challenged in court, in quite a few areas and some states have laws banning it already on their books. Ultimately I have a feeling this is going to end up being adjudicated by SCOTUS. More so for the storage of the information over time than the actual usage of it in real time.

In 1968 , Cadillac . Lincoln , and Imperial offered Air Conditioning at additional cost . The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow offered it as standard equipment.
Guess what American car also offer Air Conditioning as standard equipment ? Who would have guessed , the AMC Ambassador ?!

My first car was a '65 Ambassador. Paid $200 for the car, and it needed transmission work.

Oddly, for a somewhat luxury car, it had a manual 3-on-the-floor, with bucket seats and a center console. Plus overdrive with a second shifter. A 232 straight six wasn't too bad with the manual tranny. I promptly got a speeding ticket in it.
