What are the best seat covers for my Jeep Wrangler TJ?

Meanwhile the IGGEEs have been going on 4 years now without any damage at all. And that’s with two little kids!

I like Bartact too, as I have a set. BUT, one caveat is the gauge (thickness) of the fabric. It’s not as durable as I expected and much thinner than I imagined it to be. Within 3 months of ownership, one of the covers sustained a perforation that exposed the poly fill. Really, really disappointed that it wasn’t as durable as I expected. In contrast, the stitching is solid, and the fit is great. But their fabric is weak.

I can’t imagine what you do in your jeep. I have had my Bartact seat covers longer than that and I drive it every day and it’s done some wheeling. It’s been in the rain as well. My covers look like new, no signs of wear.

My Bartacts have lasted so long I've stepped up in the Jeep build & have been considering Suspension seats. And I got mine second hand! Still look the same as the day I got them.

Ya, you don’t want to know, lol

I didn’t say they didn’t look great and as new as the day I bought them. Simply that the fabric isn’t as thick as you’d expect.

The fabric on my set is so much more substantial than the Wet Okoles on my truck, there's no comparison. I wonder if you just got a set made with an inferior batch of material...shouldn't have happened, though.

Or maybe, that area just happens to have a different gauge fabric. The perf isn’t on the bolster areas, but the center of the seat back. When I spoke to their customer service they said they can repair it if I send it back on my dime and pay them to sew in the new piece.

End of the day, I should have just reupholstered the ‘ass’ sections of both my seats and I’d be good as new with the OE.
Trial and error / live and learn - so on and so forth. :)

Does anyone know of good full replacement covers (not slip overs)? I have done some upholstery in the past am not afraid of hog rings... Everything I find is a cover that goes over the factory cover. Any leads on options for full replacement covers?

I’ve searched high and low long before you asked this. They don’t exist. Your only option is to have some custom made.

As @Chris said, those don't really exist. I will say, however, the Bartacts I got are just about the best seat cover I have seen. I'd take those to reupholstering any day. IMO

Thanks, Not sure what I will do, but for anyone else that is interested, here is what I have found:

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5337789113&icep_item=181675432435 Ebay seller autointeriorkits all vinyl for $500 shipped

or

http://www.canadaseatskins.us/jeep-...2006-jeep-wrangler-katzkin-leather-seats.html lots of options, lowest price I could get it to was about $700 for leather/vinyl mixed single color...

Oh man... those are both absolutely hideous! Just my opinion of course!

I've been running wet okoley covers for 6 6 years now, I got em with the heated seat and adjustable lumbar options. Gotta say I'm quite pleased. They have stood up well and everything still works. Except for one seat heater as I smashed the cigarette lighter plug and havn't hard wired them yet. (hey its just temporary unless it works)

There must have been a time
when we could have said no.

Iggee seat covers are fantastic. Got them based on this thread and totally worth the money. I got black and charcoal for my black TJR.

How hot do they get in the summer with the top off though....I've left many a layer of skin on leather or vinyl seats in the summer sun...Ouch !!

They get hot as you would expect if left topless on the sun (which is why I did not go for all black). I usually carry a bigbig wh towel in the trunk area if I go topless, so I use that that I use to sit after coming back to the parked Jeep. Solves the problem easily.

Hi there!

I'm new here. I had the iggee's in my Ranger and they were great. They were NOT as nice/thick as leather if that's what you're going for. They actually developed a hole in the driver seat (middle of butt) after less than a year. FYI- I'm only 175lbs, so I didn't abuse them. I actually found a complete leather set for a Mazda 3 on ebay and did the whole pull of the OEM cloth replace with leather deal. It went great! They're factory nice. Anyway... I came here looking for the same thing for my wife's new (to us) '99 TJ.

They DO exist and I just ordered a set. They won't be in until August sometime. I'll report back (with pictures) how the install and final product comes out...

Can’t wait to hear how you like them when you get them installed. Be sure to post photos too!
