Hi. Just bought my second TJ. Let the first one go just before Hurricane Katrina. Been trying to get back into one since.
I always loved the simplicity...it's easy to work on! I have already swapped the throttle body due to bad tps, and a whole assembly with all 3 sensors can be had for 100 bucks. I also know you get what you pay for. So I ordered the Mopar tps and will swap that out when it gets here.
It's a 98 and came with hard top, but I got the Bestop supertop nx. I don't like the "sunrider" feature. and that stupid articulation is on the "classic" bow also...
I had a local shop rebuild front and rear suspension, new bilstein shocks and springs, and upgraded to the Durango steering gear. Plugs, wires, etc. were all redone.
Got some 17" wheels to replace the Mickey Thompson bullet hole off-road gear. I want flexibility to go offload if needed(north Louisiana roads...lead off road) but even at 60 years old, still gotta go to work. Jeep is the next best thing to a motorcycle.
Replaced the old front seats with Bestop Trailmax pro II seats. pretty amazing upgrade. Previous owner had "molded floor mats" or deep plastic dirt holders. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the tub heat? I used some 80mil sound deadening insulation like "kill mat" and covered it with the "Bed Rug" front kit. pretty good heat reduction.
Next on heat reduction, Magnaflow stainless down pipe and (allegedly) high flow cat. Those will be wrapped with DEI titanium exhaust wrap. Not the cat...but the pipes to and fro. Then a banks power stainless cat back exhaust. Also to be wrapped.
